An Android Phone Might Be Better than an iPhone. Here are 6 Reasons Why.
Long has the debate carried on between the Android phone and the iPhone. Which is better? While Apple took the lead early on by introducing the iPhone, Android phones have caught up and even surpassed the iPhone in many ways. Each user group will tell you why their phone is better than the other, but the debate seems pretty even.
At Houston iPhone Screen Repair, we know ‘iPhone” is in our name, and we love the features iPhone offers. But today, we’re playing devil’s advocate by telling you why Android is amazing, too. In fact, depending on your preference, an Android phone might just be better than an iPhone. Here are six reasons you would love an Android phone over an iPhone.
-
More Choices
As you already know, iPhones, however impressive their design, only come in a few sizes and options. Android, however, is found on many different devices from a variety of brands. If you are photography minded, you can buy a phone with emphasis on an amazing camera. If you drop your phone a lot or work in rough conditions, you can buy a rugged phone built for handling stress. You can also get phones in many different sizes, from small old-school type phones, to phones nearly the size of a small tablet. iPhones only come in 2, maybe 3 sizes and only recently began moving into the bigger screen market.
-
Customization
Perhaps the most-loved feature of Android phones is the ability to customize them. Change up the keyboard if you don’t like the one installed. Add widgets to display on your home screen that display info you want like the weather, news, and messages. Make your phone look and act just like a Windows phone. And you can even change the launcher for your entire phone’s system. iPhones only recently started to incorporate some of these features, although they are a couple of years behind android.
-
Hardware
When it comes to hardware, Android seems to have a slight edge on the iPhone. However, the speed and capabilities of smartphones nowadays is reaching the point where it’s hardly noticeable from most phone’s previous models. That being said, Android has always been one step ahead of the iPhone in most hardware categories. Take the iPhone XS Max and compare it with the Samsung Galaxy S10+, both arguably the best phones on the market. The Android-powered phone edges out the iPhone almost across the board, boasting a better camera, faster processor, most screen space, and more battery power.
-
Expandable Memory
One of the most distinctive features of Android phones is the ability to expand the memory. With an Android phone, you simply open up the back cover of the phone and replace or add a micro SD card with more memory. iPhones are notorious for their lack of accessibility when it comes to the hardware. To expand the memory in an iPhone, your best bet is to just buy a new one with more storage space. That can get really expensive. Micro SD cards on the other had can be purchased for as little as $20 in some cases.
-
Serviceable Battery
Speaking of access to internal hardware, getting to the battery in your phone shouldn’t have to be difficult. With Android phones, most of them at least, the battery is easily accessible and removable. If you’re battery is wearing out, you can replace it with a new one yourself, or you can get a more powerful battery if you like. iPhones, however, don’t offer access to the battery. The only way to reach them is to take them into an Apple store or to a phone repair service. Since no phone battery lasts forever, this feature gives Android users another edge in affordability and long-term maintenance.
-
Universal Chargers
Another distinctive difference between an Android phone and an iPhone is the charger. iPhones use their own charger that only works for iPhones – the lightning cable. Android, however, uses micro USB or USB-C charges, which are much more universal. Most electronic devices requiring recharging use the USB chargers. This gives Android users more flexibility when needing a charging cable and more choices when buying one.
